Turkey’s biggest scholarship program for international students, Turkey Scholarship has launched its application process for 2022.
A scholarship program that covers university students and postgraduate researchers is being funded by the government of Turkey through the Presidency of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). The application process will commence from the 10th of January up to the 20th of February 2022. Applicants will benefit from cash aid, research opportunities, and a chance to learn about Turkey. It is free to apply for the scholarship and applications must be submitted online.
The program which was originally launched in the 1990s under another name has drawn a lot of interest. It was then reformed in 2012 when it was handed over to the authority of YTB.
“Back in 2012, Türkiye Scholarships program received 42,000 applications, while last year it reached a record number of 165,500 applications from 178 different countries. This year, we also aim to set a new record,” said Eren Abdullah, the President of YTB. 5,000 scholarships are offered every year and these include full-time degrees (bachelor’s, masters, and Ph.D.), short-term programs such as language, culture programs, and research scholarships.
Eren indicated that the scholarship program is one of the best offered in the world evidenced by a large number of applicants. “It is an all-inclusive program that covers the cost of tuition fees, monthly allowance, accommodation, health expenditures, round-trip flight tickets, and a one-year Turkish language course for all students. Hence, it’s one of the world’s most comprehensive scholarship programs.
”The program is awarded according to merit, additional extra-curricular social and other qualifications since a lot of students apply to qualify. Those who succeed are granted an opportunity to take one year free of charge Turkish language course with which students get acquainted with Turkish culture through a variety of trips and programs provided in their first year.
After graduating from their various programs, students are initiated to the Turkey Alumni network which has over 150 000 graduates from around 156 countries around the world.
